Fashion Weeks are one of the most significant events in the fashion industry, held twice a year, where fashion designers and brands present their collections for the upcoming season. During these fashion weeks, fashion shows are held on specific dates in different fashion cities.
The most recent event is the Women’s Ready-to-Wear Fall/Winter Paris Fashion Week, scheduled to take place from February 27 to March 7, 2023-2024.
Among the brands that caught my attention is the Italian fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli, the founder of Maison Schiaparelli, who will attend Paris fashion week. The current creative director of the brand is Daniel Roseberry, whose designs have been making waves in the fashion industry.
Elsa Schiaparelli is an essential figure in the relationship between fashion and art, particularly in the context of Surrealism. In her Le Cirque collection in 1938, she used Spanish painter Salvador Dali’s artworks, such as “Necrophiliac Springtime (1936)” and “Three Young Surrealistic Women Holding in Their Arms the Skins of an Orchestra (1936),” as fabric designs. By incorporating abstract elements into her clothing designs, she produced a creative and innovative collection.
This year’s Maison Schiaparelli’s first women’s ready-to-wear collection, designed by Daniel Roseberry, features golden accessory details, which are a standout feature. The designer also incorporates abstract motifs on the clothes, which could be an indication that he is inspired by Elsa Schiaparelli’s work.
