France’s capital of Paris held Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer collections on display It started and ended between 23-26 January 2023.
Fashion design like other design and art disciplines involves cooperation in its nature. This collaboration opens up space for the interdisciplinary concept of design. Getting inspiration from different fields; Combining the language of expression of other disciplines with originality on a new surface enables innovative and creative production areas. Collaboration and an interdisciplinary approach are also seen among the collections shown. Dutch fashion designer Iris Van Herpen strikes a balance between technique and material, craftsmanship and innovation ‘Carte Blanche’ appears in the collection. With this collection, which wants to emphasize the awareness of women’s power, Iris van Herpen collaborated with French artist Julie Gautier to create a film that inspired the courage and tenacity of women. In the film, the message to be conveyed is explained with a choreography made underwater. The dancer screams under the water in the composition, which almost characterizes freedom.
Iris Van Herpen with this presentation of among the designs included in the screening calendar was the designer that caught my attention the most.
